Moving Day

I am mostly moved and I am exhausted! I have too much stuff. Now I have to clean. Yuck! But I leave for NYC tomorrow night! I have been so stressed with moving and work that I really haven't planned much for the trip. But I know it will be fantastic! My new apartment has a very distinct (in other words, gross) smell to it. I'm hoping to change that when I get back. And it isn't very pretty. But I can fix that too.

Oh, and I have to share that I got the most amazing pedicure the other day. I tried a new salon and it was very chic and clean. I got a hot rock massage which was AMAZING! If only I could afford to get one every week. Another thing to do when I am rich.

Yabooo!

I really like the Internet. Google is my best friend. BUT . . . I also hate the Internet. Really, Yahoo. There is no need to reveal in a headline who the gold medal winners are for events that have not been broadcast yet. I clicked on Yahoo Mail and there it was . . . the winner of the balance beam. Stupid, Interweb.

NYC Here I Come!

I am getting really really excited to go to NYC!! I'm trying not to think about the fact that I am actually working while I am out there and I will have no idea what I am doing. I am going to make the best of it though. My days will be jammed pack with all kinds of fun things that I will definitely report about when I get back.

Moving day is also approaching. The same day I leave for NYC. I hate moving. And I am not excited about where I am moving. But I am determined to make the most of it. It will only be a year anyway. I can do anything for a year.

Bears, Beets, Battlestar Galactica

I want to dedicate this post to a few of my favorite quotes from "The Office."

Jim: [dressed like Dwight] Question: What kind of bear is best?
Dwight: That’s a ridiculous question…
Jim: False. Black bear.
Dwight: That’s debatable, there are basically two schools of thought…
Jim: Fact: Bears eat beets. Bears, beets, Battlestar Galactica.
Dwight: Bears do not…what is going on?!? What are you doing?!?

Pam Beesly: It's whom when it's the object of the sentence and who when as the subject.
Phyllis: That sounds right.
Michael Scott: Well it sounds right but is it?
Stanley: How did Ryan use it, as an object?
Ryan: As an object.
Kelly: Ryan used me as an object.

Dwight: Question, is there firewood on the island?
Jim: I guess.
Dwight: Then I would bring an axe, no books.
Jim: It has to be a book Dwight.
Dwight: Fine. Physician’s Desk Reference…
Jim: Nice. Smart.
Dwight: …hollowed out. Inside: Waterproof matches, iodine tables, beet seeds, protein bars, NASA blanket and, in case I get bored, Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone. No – Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban. Question, did my shoes come off in the plane crash?

Dwight: Well, here are your options: you can sell it for parts, drive it off a cliff... you can donate it to a person that you'd like to see die in a car crash, or, you can sell it to me, and I'll use it as I would a wagon on my farm. It will be towed by a donkey.
Andy: I have to pick one of those?
Dwight: Yes.
Andy: Can you go over those options again?
Dwight: You know what? You knock $1500 of the price right now, and I will take it off your hands. It's gotta be now.
Andy: Well I have the, the blue book value...
Dwight: Seal the deal. Let's do it. Let's do this thing. Three, two, one--
Andy: Can I think about it?
Dwight: Five, four, three, two...
Andy: Let me think about it--
Dwight: Now. Now. Now.
Andy: Let me think about it--
Dwight: Say it. Do it. Now.
Andy: I'm thinking about it--
Dwight: Do it now.
Andy: Thinking--
Dwight: Do it. Shake my hand. You will sell me this car. Shake my hand.
Andy: Yeah. All right!

The Phone Call

I know I shouldn't be posting while at work, but I was just thinking about how ridiculous it is that I hate calling people. I don't know when the hatred started, probably the first week I started texting all those years ago. The reason I was thinking about how much I dislike talking to people is because I have to call a ton of our clients today and invite them to a conference. I dread every single time I pick up that phone. Hence why I am stalling the next call and blogging right now. I would so much rather just send them all an email. These people are perfectly friendly, but it takes so much more time and I feel so stupid repeating myself to each and everyone of them. And I hate small talk. I am not good at it and it wastes my time. I also hate answering my phone at work. I never do. I let everything go to voice mail and sometimes call them back. I know people hate me, but oh well!

Anyway, I blame it all on all the technology and innovations of the world. This is sooo not my fault.

Go, Team, Go! Go My Favorite Sports Team, Go!

I Heart the Olympics! I don't know what it is, but I seriously enjoying watching just about every sport during the Olympics. I don't really do the whole watching hours upon hours of sports any other time, but I just love watching the U.S. cream the rest of the world! I also actually really like NBC, so I am glad that they are doing all the coverage. And has anyone else noticed how the commentators can hear the questions that you ask? Without fail, every time we ask a question about an event or an athlete, the commentators somehow know that we asked and answer it. It is amazing.

I also like to see how awkward some of the athletes are. Have you seen the women on the U.S. fencing team? You know they have no friends. Seriously socially awkward. And the whole drama between those two female swimmers who dated the same Italian guy or something? You gotta love it!

Oh, the Anticipation . . .

Wow, it has been way too long. I have been quite busy though. We had my sister's open house last weekend and I spent most of my free time planning, buying, etc for that. I think it turned out fairly nice considering the time and budget put into it.

I got sick this week, which made me mad because I had to use four hours of PTO on Tuesday. That's four hours of vacation that I don't get later. Oh well, at least I got to sleep most of the day. Work is going well. We have a conference coming up in November which I get to plan, so I am excited. We are actually going to do it off site, which is even more fun!

Tomorrow is going to be awesome! Not only is it 08-08-08, but it is Angela's birthday and the start of the Olympics! I already hung paper Chinese lanterns from the ceiling in anticipation. And I found little plastic shot glasses. If I were rich, I would plan the most amazing parties every week. Each with a different theme.

One not so awesome thing about tomorrow . . . the one year anniversary of my car accident. If I can make it through tomorrow without wrecking, I will be thrilled.
