Leo in Warrenton

When I was in middle school and probably part of high school, I was madly in love with Leonardo DiCaprio. I saw Titanic 3 times in the theater, and would have seen it more if my mom would have let me. I made up a pseudonym (Daphne Alexis) and wrote him a letter professing my love. I don't think I ever sent it, at least I hope I didn't.

Anyway, today he is in Warrenton, VA along with Clint Eastwood filming a movie at the Courthouse. I grew up in Warrenton. I'm pretty sure my 13 year-old self would be wetting herself right now. Too bad he came just a few years too late.

Birthday Week

I miss the days when I would start counting down the days till my birthday. I would always start February 12th because my brother’s birthday was February 11 and I didn’t want to distract attention from his birthday. Now I don’t get as excited to get older. I don’t feel old yet, but I am sure I will start feeling it in the next couple of years.

Yesterday I asked Kevin what he planned for my Birthday Week, and he just gave me a blank stare. “Birthday Week? I don’t do Birthday Weeks. I only do BirthDAYs.” I wasn’t expecting him to plan anything, but it was pretty funny to hear all the excuses of why he didn’t have anything planned this week. I haven’t really planned anything either, though I know I want a really good dessert ( I am giving up sweets for 2 weeks and my birthday is the end of the 2 weeks) and a pedicure.

Having your birthday during Conference weekend has it’s pluses and minuses. It is an incredible uplifting weekend, usually filled with lots of family time, but it takes up 6 hours of my Saturday, making it difficult to make fun birthday plans. My birthday is on Sunday this year, so everything fun will have to be on Saturday in between session, or watch the sessions later.

Any suggestions? I am thinking about possibly going to the Hogle Zoo or the Living Planet Aquarium?

Last Chance Workout

Pulled this DVD out and tried it again for the first time in about 8 months.

I can barely move my legs and arms today.

I'm a Cougar

One of my brother-in-laws shared this precious moment via email today:

I thought it was a bit humorous awhile ago when Jared was realizing that quite a few of his aunts were cougars (washington state and byu), given the other 'slang' meaning of cougar (and that reality TV show - The Cougar).

Jared: "Hey Dad, a lot of my aunts are cougars."
Me: "Uh, Jared, maybe you shouldn't say that to just anyone, unless they know that you're talking about where they went to college..."

Jared is 5 years old (I'm pretty sure. There are 19 nieces and nephews on that side and I get confused sometimes) and really into sports. He loves the Utah State Aggies and hates BYU. I purposely wear my BYU stuff when we visit just to get a reaction out of him. He is adorable.

UpBEET

I tried the new "berry upBEET" smoothie from Jamba Juice this morning. It has 1 full serving of veggies and 2 full servings of fruit and only 230 calories. It tasted pretty good, even after I dropped it in the parking lot and it splattered across the pavement. Needless to say, I had a rough morning.

Mousse Temptations

I have a really hard time saying no to sweets, so I am always looking for low calorie desserts that will satisfy my sweet tooth. I bought these this week and they did not disappoint!

Most definitely a fan. They are very light, but filling. I look forward to trying the other flavors.

Hair

My hair is a hot mess. I have been trying to grow my hair out since last June when I dyed it black. I thought the black would wash out, but my hair was too light and no such luck. I am still about 6-10 months from my hair being long enough for me to cut it and remove all the dyed parts. I got sick of it looking nasty, so I decided to dye it a golden blonde this weekend, hoping to lighten the dark spots and make the roots blend in a little more. Well, that didn’t work. Now the dark spots still look dark, possibly darker and my roots are now a golden red. It is pretty scary looking. Only 27 more washes until it’s gone. Fingers crossed.

February and Other Stuff

This is my attempt at playing catch up:

We bought a treadmill at the beginning of the year and you would think that I would want to run on it every day since it is so convenient now, but unfortunately that is not the case. I’m working on it though. I love the concept of having it, but not the actual running. However, I did buy some ShapeUps a couple weeks ago from Costco when they were on sale and I LOVE them! I really only get to wear them on the treadmill, but I sure feel a difference. I realized that I walk heel to toe in regular shoes, so the ShapeUps feel pretty natural. Weird, I know.

Valentine’s Day was fantastic. Kevin and I flew down to Las Vegas the Saturday before and enjoyed good food and good shopping. Valentine’s Day I worked from the hotel room and Kevin worked at a trade show. We were able to go to dinner at Trevi, a nice restaurant in Caesar’s Forum Shops and do a little shopping. Kevin bought me a ton of Godiva chocolate and a necklace from Tiffany that I wanted. I enjoy being spoiled.

Work and Church keep me very busy, which is nice since I tend to get depressed when I have the free time to think about not being able to get pregnant yet. It will be a year next month since we started tying and it gets more and more depressing each month. I am probably the least patient person I know, so the waiting and anxiety is killing me. Just wish I knew why it isn’t the right time yet.

I am really looking forward to this summer. We bought our Stadium of Fire tickets already and even more exciting . . . we booked a cruise for May! We are traveling on Carnival cruise lines on the Baja Mexico cruise. Meaning we are departing from Long Beach and stopping at Catalina Island and Ensenada. We will be traveling with some good friends, which makes it even more exciting. It is my first cruise, and I am a little nervous about getting seasick, but I will be bringing many different remedies to see what works best. I just would rather not be drugged during my vacation.

City Deals

I love City Deals! They sell retail and restaurant gift certificates at a discount and they have some really good ones. I buy them for places that I know we are going to eat and we usually save at least 50%. I just bought one for Gloria's Little Italy, so now I can make Kevin take me next week. I love that place! Find more info out here.
