Turkey Day

Thanksgiving was great. I stayed in Utah, but got to hangout with some of the family, so it was a riot. We really have a little too much fun together. I have to admit, one of the highlights of the weekend was having the apartment to myself. I love my roommates, but sometimes it is nice to lock myself up in my room and watch a lot of movies. Which is basically what I did. But since I would feel incredibly guilty just sitting around watching movies for days, I found things to do while I watched the movies. Gotta stay productive. I also got to babysit my nieces. They are just too cute for words.

Labels or Love

I have been listening to this song for a while now, but I just really like the lyrics so I wanted to share. Happy Tuesday!

Fergie "Labels or Love" Lyrics

Shopping for labels, shopping for love
Manolo and Louis, it’s all I’m thinking of
Shopping for labels, shopping for love
Manolo and Louis, it’s all I’m thinking of

I already know what my addiction is
I be looking for labels, I ain’t looking for love
I shop for purses while I walk out the door
Don’t cry, buy a bag and then get over it
And, I’m not concerned with all the politics
It’s a lot of men I know I could find another one.

What I know is that I’m always happy when I walk out the store, store
I’m guessing Supercalifragi-sexy, nothing to be playing with
I love him, hate him, kiss him, diss him, tryna to walk a mile in my kicks

(Chorus)
Love’s like a runway but which one do I love more
No emotional baggage, just big bags filled with Dior
Love’s like a runway, so what’s all the fussing for
Let’s stop chasing them boys and shop some more

I know I might come off as negative
I be looking for labels, I ain’t looking for love
Relationships are often so hard to tame
A Prada dress has never broken my heart before
And, ballin’s something that I’m fed up with
I’mma do the d*** thing, watch me do the d*** thing
Cause I know that my credit card will help me put out the flames
I’m guessing Supercalifragi-sexy, nothing to be playing with
I love him, hate him, kiss him, diss him, tryna to walk a mile in my kicks

[Chorus]

Gucci, Fendi, Prada purses, purchasing them finer things
Men they come a dime a dozen, just give me them diamond rings
I’m into a lot of bling, Cadallic, Chanel and Coach
Fellas boast but they can’t really handle my female approach
Buying things is hard to say
Rocking Christian Audigier, Manolo, Polo, taking photos in my Cartier
So we can’t go all the way, I know you might hate it but
I’m a shop for labels while them ladies lay and wait for love

[Chorus]

Spark

My roommate and I were so proud of ourselves tonight. One, we actually got to hangout for the first time in weeks. Two, we went out to a swanky lounge in town and didn't even go out until after 10:00 pm. My usual bedtime. We got all dressed up and walked the few blocks to Spark. It is a restaurant/lounge that is trying to bring a little trendy to P-town. I have to say that it was pretty neat inside. I would have done a few different things to the decor, but there is this fabulous chandelier that I want for my home someday. The best part about this place is that it features a non-alcoholic bar. The drinks are limited, but I am excited to try them all. I ordered the Shirley Temple, which is a classic fav, but this one featured a ball of pink cotton candy on top. It's like this drink was made for me. It was fantastic. We also got the Creme Brulee, which was amazing.

The atmosphere was great, but the service was pretty much terrible. I think we waited more than 10 mins for our server to even approach us. There was only one bartender, so our drinks took forever as well. When we sat down we noticed that all the other tables had cloth napkins, utensils, glasses etc but ours did not. I asked the guy that brought our dessert (not our server) if we could get napkins, and he asked "What else did you order?" "Drinks." So he went and got us each a paper napkin to place our drinks on. No real napkins for us. Not to mention that he wasn't very nice about it.

After we finished our drinks, I was debating on ordering something else, but I wasn't given the option because our server brought our check without even talking to us. Then she never picked them up. We finally asked another server to pick them up for us.

I hope that my experience doesn't deter anyone else from going, because I will definitely go again. I'm hoping they were just short-staffed or everyone was just having an off night. I have a feeling things will iron our for them eventually and I hope that they stay open.

The Cinema

This was my movie weekend. I haven't seen a movie in a theater in a really long time, but I saw two this weekend. Friday night was James Bond. I have to admit, I really just wanted to see it because of social pressures. I like action, but I have a little problem with a lot of senseless killing. I blame it on all the articles I have read on how the media desensitizes us all. Anyway, I actually liked it, I think. I went to a really late showing and I was really tired. I nodded off several times(literally)and I think those parts must have been when they explained what was going on, because I still have no idea what the movie was really about. But that James Bond sure was hot when he was all roughed up.

Movie number two was Twilight. Yes, I have read all the books. I wasn't expecting it to me amazing, so I wasn't disappointed. I didn't think the actor playing Edward was that attractive at first, but by the end of the movie I was really attracted to him. Jacob was ugly, which made me happy. I am on Team Edward. There were actually quite a few funny parts, though I'm not sure they were intentional. Overall, I thought it was entertaining.

Dear Delta Airlines,

I tried to have faith in you, but now I have lost faith in all airlines. I spent over two hours yesterday on the phone with six different representatives and all I wanted to do is book a flight and use credit from a previous flight. Not too difficult, right? But apparently for your employees in India, it was very difficult. Don’t worry, you are still charging me more than $100 than you are supposed to, but I ran out of patience and just can’t argue with your employees any more. Maybe that is just one more of your ridiculous policies to try to suck your customers’ wallets dry. Let’s overcharge them and not have any of our employees speak English so our customers get so frustrated they just give up and pay. Good plan.

Also, why is it that every time I call and ask about a flight I am looking to book, it doesn’t exist in your system? It is there plain as day on your website. Maybe you should get them synced up or getter a better system. Just a thought.

Sincerely,
A Very Disgruntled Customer

I Am Still Here

I promise I am still alive. To quote LC in the LG commercial, "Work is so crazy right now..." ( I hope someone gets that.) I have been putting in a ton of extra hours and I am exhausted. We launched a new version of our software and we have a two day training conference next week. I don't feel prepared at all, but hopefully I will by next Thursday morning. It's a good thing that I love to plan events.

It snowed pretty nasty yesterday. Thanks, November for already being gross.

I found out that my parents are no longer coming out for Christmas, so it will be my first Christmas without them. I have plenty of family around here though, so it shouldn't be too bad. I can't believe December is next month. And seriously, Christmas songs on the radio already? No one needs to hear that.

That's all for now. I promise to post something more exciting soon.
