Time to Rejoin the Real World

Well, I got the job that I interviewed with today. I will barely be making more than I do on unemployment, but I guess some work is better than no work. I will be working as an administrative assistant for a company called Aquatherm. They sell pipes. The product actually sounds kind of cool. You should check them out. I start training tomorrow afternoon. My two month vacation has been great, and I am sad that is has come to an end, but I am excited for new experiences and for a little more cash flow and stability.

Monthly Update

Still looking for a job. I have interviewed for a couple, but no luck yet. I have another interview this afternoon. We will see how it goes.

I spent the weekend up in Logan, UT with Kevin's family. His parents came down from Washington for a couple family reunions. It was great getting to know his parents and his brother Scott's family. I wish I had pictures, but I didn't take any. Kevin took a ton though, so maybe I can post some later. It was my first time in Logan (other than when we drove up earlier in the week for another family reunion) and it is really pretty up there. Lots of green. Kevin made sure we stopped at Gossner's for some cheese and Rootbeer milk. I am definitely a fan of Rootbeer milk! We also stopped at Charlies' for milkshakes, which were very tasty!

Last Tuesday we were lucky enough to get free tickets to an Orem Owls game. We stayed for a couple innings and it was really fun. I have to admit that my favorite part was probably the soft frozen pink lemonade! I did manage to take a couple pictures before the mosquitoes began to eat us alive and we had to leave.

We had a blast on the 4th of July! We started the morning with the parade then went back to my place and made Eggs Benedict. After a much needed nap, we ventured down to Center Street in Provo for the Freedom Days festivities. We did a little shopping (Kevin bought me a cute bag for church and a BEAUTIFUL pearl necklace) and gorged on a funnel cake and dippin dots. Later in the evening we met up with Kevin's roommate's family for a little BBQ and watched the fireworks from the Bean Museum. The fireworks definitely disappointed this year. Guess they spent all their money on the Jonas Brothers. :-)

Liam Eric Dunn

My very first nephew was born on Sunday, June 7, 2009. He is absolutely adorable and I love him. He came in at a whopping 7 lbs 15 oz and 20 inches long, which is a big baby for my family, including my sister's family, especially for being a week early. I had the remnants of strep the day he was born so I wasn't able to hold him, but I'm all better so he has gotten lots of love from his Aunt April. His oldest sister Jessica absolutely loves him, Kaylee thinks he's cute but boring.

My Best Aunt's Wedding

My favorite Aunt got married on Saturday. It was a beautiful day and the ceremony was wonderful. I am so grateful I was able to attend. I have had strep throat all week, so I wasn't feeling the best, but it was great to share in her special day. Here are a few pics that Kevin took for me while we were at the Temple.

She held her reception at a reception center in Layton. It was a really pretty place. She didn't like the centerpieces that they had, so she commissioned me to design some for her. This is how they turned out.

The Month of May

A little update on what I have been up to:

You would think that I would blog a lot more since I have so much free time. I am still doing the job hunt thing. I have applied to a ton of places, but I have only gotten one interview. They were supposed to call last Thursday either way. Still no call.

I have to admit that being jobless has its perks. I got to spend 5 days in Denver with one of my best friends, Tony! We had an amazing time! We ate an incredible amount of food, but it was all so good!

One of the most memorable moments was the car accident. I had rented a car at the airport and then drove to Tony's hotel from the airport. We then headed out to the bank then brunch, but on the way a girl ran into us. She was texting and looking down at her phone so she didn't see us. There was no damage to her car, but my car was not drivable. Since it was in a parking long (right in front of the bank) the police wouldn't come. So Jana the texter drove us over to the police station so we could file a report. After a lot of phone calls, Tony and I ended up riding in the tow truck back to the car rental place by the airport, getting another car and were able to enjoy the rest of my visit.

We also toured the Celestial Seasonings factory, which was . . . interesting. We actually did have a lot of fun. The tour started with a 15 minute video history then we darned our hair nets (along with beard nets for those who had beards) and headed into the factory. We learned a few interesting facts like those teas that are caffeine free are not actually tea, but herbal blends.

The boyfriend and I went to a Real Salt Lake game a could weeks ago. It was a lot of fun. We tied the LA Galaxy I think.

I took a last minute trip to Las Vegas last week. The boyfriend was down there for business and begged me to come down and join him. This was at 1:30 am Tuesday. Since I still didn't have a job, I decided to start packing. I told him I would leave first thing in the morning, but I couldn't get to sleep so I decided to leave at 2:30 am. It was nice and cool and no other cars on the road. Perfect time to drive to Vegas if you ask me. I called him when I got there at 7:00 am and he was pleasantly surprised. He had to work most of the day, so I relaxed (we were in a Master suite which was absolutely humongous and had a jetted tub), read by the pool and did a little shopping. The first night we ate at the Cheesecake Factory and walked the Forum Shops in Caesar's. The second night we went to dinner and then walked the Venetian. He even humored me and went to Sephora with me. He's a pretty good boyfriend. We left late Thursday night and I made him drive my car while the other Sales rep drove his car. He won a lot of points with that.

Other than that I have just been looking for jobs and relaxing with the boyfriend.

Unemployed

Apparently Events Coordinators are not immune to the economic crisis. Yesterday I was "let go" from my job. I don't think I have been more terrified than I was yesterday. Though it was incredibly hard to digest the news, I'm trying to see the blessings that will come from it. First of all, I really didn't like my job. Second of all, my boyfriend and I can finally come out of the closet. We worked together and had been keeping our relationship a secret from our coworkers. Well, that's all I have right now. I'm sure more blessings will appear once I have had more time to process.

Today I will file for unemployment, update my resume and start the job search. Though I would love to enjoy having some time off, my bank account and bills will not allow it. So if anyone knows of any job opportunities, please let me know!

Love you all!

Festival Photos

My friend was willing to share, so here are just a few to wet your appetite . . .

Basically, I love Cherry Blossoms.

How gorgeous are these?!

I love the little imperfections. They make them even more beautiful!

You can tell that I didn't take these because they are captured so beautifully. Also, I don't want to ruin the awesomeness of the tulips for those who haven't seen them yet, so that's all you are going to get. If you want to see more you will just have to go!
