5 Months

I guess I better record Ellie at 5 months before she turns 6 months!

My guess is that she is around 16 lbs right now. She still fits into some 0-3 months clothes, but she is mostly in 3-6. I started putting her in 6 months pants this week since all her pants had become capris. I'm hoping that means she will be tall!

At Five Months Ellie:
- Went swimming for the first time at Seven Peaks. She hated it. The second time wasn't too bad.

- Eats some solid foods including green beans, squash, peas, carrots, sweet potatoes and oatmeal.

- Drinks 6 oz every four hours.

- Goes to bed around 10:00 pm and wakes up anywhere between 6-10 am.

- Rode in a swing at the park for the first time. She loved it!

- Went to her first rodeo. She was tired and cranky so she didn't like it too much.

- Loves rolling from her stomach to her back and can roll the other way with a little help getting started.

- Loves other babies, especially her friend Chloe.

- "Swims" on the floor when she wants to get a toy. Still hasn't figured out how to make herself move, but it is fun to watch her try.

- Enjoys her jumper but mostly just sways in it.

- Makes a really funny deep almost growl sound all the time.

- Cries when anyone but Mommy or Daddy holds her.

Daddy's Turn

This is what happens when Kevin is in charge of getting Eleanor dressed. Rather than trying to find something, he just lets her go naked.

Father's Day

It's hard to believe that a year ago we were calling our fathers to wish them Happy Father's Day and to tell them that we were expecting a baby. My how a year has changed us. Today we celebrate Kevin's first Father's Day and I couldn't be happier to have him as the father of our little girl.

I love the way he looks at her with such love in his eyes. You can tell he is a proud papa and he loves to show her off. She gets a huge grin on her face whenever she sees him and you can tell she knows his voice because she gets excited when she hears him on the phone or on FaceTime.

We are so lucky to have him to support us, protect us and love us!

I wanted to spoil him a little bit because he is always spoiling me, so I let him get a gas grill that he has been wanting. It is small and was affordable so I couldn't say no. Plus that means I don't have to smell charcoal as often now. I also made him a cute photo gift of Ellie spelling Dad and got him a framed picture of "Praying at Valley Forge" that he has been wanting.

I am also so grateful for my own father who has been such a great example of working hard and being so selfless with his time. He always puts his family first no matter what his responsibilities at work are and I will always cherish that.

Minnie Mouse

Eleanor loves Minnie Mouse. We were at the store yesterday and I found a huge Minnie Mouse doll/pillow and I had to show it to her. Her reaction was priceless. She got so excited and started squawking, which she only does if she is really excited about something.

Kevin and I are such suckers so we ended up buying it for her. She still gets so excited when she sees her.

Ellie's Skirt

This took longer than it should have I'm sure, but I think I would attempt it again. It's far from perfect, but luckily she doesn't mind. I had a hard time getting a decent picture before church and she was so covered in spit up afterward I really didn't want to attempt more pictures.

Getting Crafty

Now that Eleanor has been taking better naps I have a little more time to get crafty. I was in need of a Memorial Day/4th of July wreath so I whipped up this puppy yesterday. I love the way it turned out. Very simple, but very me. And it only cost me $6 to make.

I also made Eleanor a skirt that I think turned out pretty well considering I had to sew it. I will take pictures of her modeling it tomorrow and post.

Four Months

I am so far behind so I guess I will just skip to four months.

Eleanor is growing so fast, I just can't believe it! At her 4 month appointment she weighed in at 13 lbs and measured 24.5 inches. She grew 3.5 inches in just 2 months. I'm hoping that means she will end up taller than me!

She is mostly sleeping through the night now, which makes all the difference in the world! She is still sleeping in our room, mostly because I am not ready to move her into her own room. She still does wake up looking for her pacifier a couple times a night so I have to get up and help her. The baby monitor I ordered should arrive by next week so I may try to move her then. On Sunday we put away the bassinet and started to put her in the pack n play. Normally she has to have me hold her in order to sleep, which has been pretty draining on me so I wanted to see if she would fall asleep on her own in her crib. So far it has been quite successful, which I think is a miracle. She really doesn't even cry. When I put her down for the night she tends to put up more of a fight, but I just soothe her and she falls asleep after a couple mins. This is just so huge for us because she used to scream bloody murder before she would fall asleep. I think we are all much happier now.
