Another reason I love the snow . . .

So I had this totally awesome experience today. And by awesome I mean totally sucky. It is snowed all day long and so I decided to skip my lunch break and leave an hour early from work. As usual, I started my car, turned on the defroster and then got out to start scraping. After scraping the 1/2 foot of snow off my car, I went to get back into the car and discovered that my car door was locked. And after trying all three other doors, I realized that I was locked out of my car, while it was running. Go me!

I ran back inside the office and asked a coworker for help. There wasn't really anything he could do to get my car unlocked, so I went into problem-solving mode. I knew I had a spare key at my apartment, but I also knew that none of my roommates would be home. My cell phone, purse and keys were in the car, so of course I couldn't call my roommates or get into my apartment. Another coworker suggested I call Police Dispatch to see if they could help. Apparently they can only open cars if there is a child inside. So I tried another route, I called my apartment's management company to see if I could use the spare key to get into my apartment. Luckily their office is located right by my apartment building, so a coworker offered to drive me there pick up the key, go to my apartment to pick up my car key and then drive me back to the office. Everything ended up working out and I was able to drive home. An hour and a half later than planned. Happy Tuesday!

The Things People Say

Conversation overheard in the Nordstrom's parking lot yesterday:

A daughter telling her mother about a prior conversation:

"She said, I thought for sure you would grow up to be a streetwalker, but look at you now. You look so nice."

Seriously? Who says that to anyone?

My Dream Tree . . .

Oh, I forget to share the ornament that I bought for myself. Best ornament ever:

The phrase on the bottom says "Life is too short for sensible shoes!" Love it!

A California Christmas

Christmas in California was fabulous. I especially enjoyed the warmer weather. I feel like I did a ton while I was there. I saw Seven Pounds and Bedtime Stories. Both excellent movies. Seven Pounds is incredibly sad, so beware! Went shopping on Friday and spent way too much money. But I did buy a new Coach bag, Coach umbrella, and 2 pairs of Coach gloves. One pair is black leather with cashmere lining. Heaven! They were all ridiculously on sale. I probably should have bought another bag, oh well. There is always next time. Got my Sephora fix too. Along with a ton of other stuff that I promise I really needed.

On Saturday we went to the La Purisima Mission in Lompoc. It was interesting. You can click on the link to learn more about what it is. Some pics from the trip:

Spent some time at the beach my last full day at home. I love how therapeutic the beach is. Also got caught up on the last couple issues of People magazine, a highlight of my vacation.

My parents' ward is quite eccentric, and this past Sunday was no exception. This lady got up and gave a detailed analogy of Remember the Titans and how it relates to being a member of the LDS Church. I have to admit, she made some pretty good comparisons. It was just so strange. My mom is the Young Women's president, so I got to go to YW's instead of Relief Society. I stood up to repeat the Theme with them, and I still stumble of the "Strengthen Home and Family" phrase they added a couple years ago. And now they have added a new value. I will never get it right now.

Let's see, I also decorated a Gingerbread House with my mom, watched Mamma Mia, ate about 45 billion calories, ate more vegetables that I have in weeks, walked around Solvang and enjoyed some Aebleskivers, played lots of Trivial Pursuit and Jeopardy and just hung out with the family.

I am a little happy to be back home, but I think my trip to Cali convinced me that I am ready to move out West sometime next year. I can't take one more winter here.

Christmas is coming . . .

I don't have the time to post, which is why I am of course. I am trying to pack for my trip home tomorrow. I hate packing. I'm an over packer ( I must be prepared for absolutely every scenario that could possibly occur) and with the excessive baggage fees these days, I have to be very careful. Plus fit in Christmas presents. I used to just take two suitcases, but I'm not paying an additional $50 to do that. Hope it is all worth it to you, Delta. Make sure you make life more difficult for everyone on the planet. Merry Christmas to you too.

I can't believe that it is Christmas Eve Eve. I'm not ready for Christmas to come and go. That just means that I have to start paying off my credit card. Though I am ready for the snow to be done. I don't think my heart can take it anymore. I'm praying really really hard that it does not snow tomorrow morning so I can make it to the airport safely and my flight won't be delayed.

I went back to get my eyes checked again today and it turns out that my eyes really haven't gotten better like the optometrist originally thought. I knew it was too good to be true. I appaerntly just suck at taking the tests or the doc sucks at his job. I'm leaning more toward me. I just get so confused with all the 1's and 2's. Most the time neither one is good so I don't want to say either number. I was really tempted to get some frames though. They have some really cute Coach and Fendi frames that I may convince myself that I need.

Well, I hope that everyone has a Very Merry Christmas!! Be safe! Love you!

Snowy Days and Mondays Always Get Me Down

If you know me at all, you know snow and I don't get along. I have been pretty happy that it has stayed away today, but don't worry it just started. Twenty minutes before I have to leave for an eye appointment. And it is sticking. I also get to have my pupils dilated, then I get to drive home in the dark and the snow. I heart Mondays.

Christmas is coming . . .

Christmas is here! I can feel it! We already had our company Christmas dinner, it was OK. Sacrament was filled with our Christmas program, put together by my roommate and it was wonderful. Tonight was probably my favorite though. My roommates and I cooked dinner (ham, mashed potatoes (made from scratch and mixed with stuffing, amazing! and yes I made them), homemade rolls, and a pomegranate salad. Oh and I made some hot apple cider. It was all soooo good! Then we exchanged gifts. We each drew a name a couple weeks ago and kept our receiver a secret. Haleh had me and she got me a really cute Christmas ornament (pink and black!) and a zebra print clutch. Very me and I love it! So excited to use it.

We finally made a trip to Ikea yesterday and picked up most of the stuff for our apartment. We all got new desk chairs (not that easy to put together, my thumb is still numb) and then we got new black placemats, a red and white stripped rug for the kitchen, a black slipcover for the couch, black sheer curtains and a black curtain rod. I picked up some red fabric to cover the existing couch pillows too. It is already looking so much more chic! Once it is complete, I will take some pictures.

Ok, and now I need to vent just a little bit. I have this thing with respect. I really like it. Not sure why some people feel the need to disrespect. I think it may be more that they don't realize that they are disrespecting me. Maybe I am too high maintence. Let's all just try to show a little more R-E-S-P-E-C-T friends!
