So I had this totally awesome experience today. And by awesome I mean totally sucky. It is snowed all day long and so I decided to skip my lunch break and leave an hour early from work. As usual, I started my car, turned on the defroster and then got out to start scraping. After scraping the 1/2 foot of snow off my car, I went to get back into the car and discovered that my car door was locked. And after trying all three other doors, I realized that I was locked out of my car, while it was running. Go me!
I ran back inside the office and asked a coworker for help. There wasn't really anything he could do to get my car unlocked, so I went into problem-solving mode. I knew I had a spare key at my apartment, but I also knew that none of my roommates would be home. My cell phone, purse and keys were in the car, so of course I couldn't call my roommates or get into my apartment. Another coworker suggested I call Police Dispatch to see if they could help. Apparently they can only open cars if there is a child inside. So I tried another route, I called my apartment's management company to see if I could use the spare key to get into my apartment. Luckily their office is located right by my apartment building, so a coworker offered to drive me there pick up the key, go to my apartment to pick up my car key and then drive me back to the office. Everything ended up working out and I was able to drive home. An hour and a half later than planned. Happy Tuesday!

Oh man! That totally sucks! I locked my keys in the car in Provo once, but the nearest spare key was in Murray at my parents house. Let me tell you, my dad was not real excited about driving all the way to Provo to unlock my car. Stupid snow.
I've always been worried I was going to lock my keys in the car with it running! What is up with all of the snow lately? It seems like it just hasn't stopped!
Tis a daily fear of mine too for I'm sure some day it will happen to me. Probably while we're at Sundance. ;)
Locking keys in the car is no fun at all! I'm glad to hear it all worked out though! I'd be in big trouble, 'cause I have no spare key to my car! (my husband does have a spare clicker though, so maybe it wouldn't be too bad)
