My Country, Tis of Thee

Independence Day is approaching and I am pumped. I attended a fireside at the Marriott Center tonight featuring Glenn Beck as the featured speaker. I am a fan of Brother Beck. I think that he is an amazing public speaker and I love that he is not afraid to talk about his religion. And he is not afraid to cry. I also find him kind of attractive. Strange, I know.

Glenn spoke about his experience of being in NYC during 9/11 and how the hymn "Come, Come, Ye Saints" gave him great comfort. He has incredible pride and love for this country and it is nice to be reminded of how great this country really is. God Bless America!

American Idol in Orem?

Jordin Sparks at the Scera in Orem . . . not sure why it happened, but she did come and I went. Thanks to an awesome friend, Ang and I got to go for free. It was outdoors, so we sat in the very back to avoid the mobs of screaming 12-year-old girls. The opening act, I think they called themselves 4 Real, was kind of a joke. We got a good laugh at their expense. Jordin is quite talented and I did enjoy her performance. She didn't sing very many of her own songs, I'm sure because no one knows any of them except the ones on the radio. I really like her voice. She can belt it out, though she was out of breath all the time.

I think the most memorable part of the evening was the woman sitting in front of us. We were all on blankets and Ang and I were stuck sitting behind this kind of weird family. The mother's shirt did not cover everything it should have in the back, and I was stuck looking at a tattoo on her lower back along with her thong all evening. This woman wasn't exactly skinny, so needless to say it wasn't a very pretty sight. I wanted to say something to her so bad, but what do you say? "Umm, I'm sorry ma'am, but your thong and love handles are hanging out, do you think you could do something about that?" Awkward!

Fashion . . . Put it all on me

I'm sorry, but this is just too horrible not to share. See if you can listen to the whole song. I haven't been able to yet.

Daisy

Two months ago, I challenged myself to workout four times a week until my sister's wedding. The reward for reaching my goal? A perfume that I have wanted for what seems like forever.

Well, my sister's wedding is approaching and so far I have been true to my goal. So I decided to place my order tonight so that it will arrive before I leave. I can hardly contain my excitement! And since I ordered it from Sephora, I get all kinds of fun free samples. It should all arrive in a week!!

Cowboy Take Me Away

I have never really been into cowboys, but there is just something about a man in a cowboy hat and boots that does something to me. I want to the PG Rodeo last night and I quite enjoyed it. The smell was almost unbearable (we sat right above the cow pen and their smell was emanating up through the bleachers) but there were some nice specimens to look at. I think guys just look so much more manly at a rodeo.

I have always been terrified of horses, but I have to admit that they are beautiful creatures. I almost wished I was one of the rodeo queens wearing skin tight pink wranglers with a matching pink sequined top riding around waving a flag.

I think my favorite part was watching the motocross boys. I held my breath every time they jumped the truck or whatever it was they were jumping. I'm sure they were like 15 years old, but it was hot. I think it's probably the fact that they appear to have no fear. That is extremely attractive.

Also, I started reading "Twilight" today and I am over half way through it. I will probably end up finishing it tonight. So good!

I Can't Stop Smiling!

I have been having the most fantastic week. I don't really want to go into all the details in fear of who reads this, if anyone, but let's just say things are going SOOOO much better at work. First of all, I am going to NYC in August for a trade show! I am going to fly out a few days early to hangout with friends and do some shopping. I really didn't think they were going to send me, but I asked anyway and low and behold the answer was yes! Thank you Wayne Gretzky for your wise words "You miss 100% of the shots you don't take." I am seriously trying to live by them.

Second, my title is now Events Coordinator and I am no longer doing marketing. I just didn't have time to do it all, though I wish I could. But I get to stick to my passion and I am thrilled. One step closer to my dream job. Not quite sure what that is, but I know it will have something to do with planning some kind of event.

Third, my friend Cassandra got married yesterday and I was present during the Temple ceremony. It was my first and I am so happy for Sassy Cass and Montel. I also got to see some good friends and that always makes me happy.

Fourth, the LA Lakers lost. That made me very happy.

Fifth, the Victoria's Secret semi-annual sale is going on right now. I don't think I need to say anymore about that. I went twice today.

Sixth, did I mention that I am going to NYC?!

Ok, so you can all continue to be jealous of how happy I am. I hope that everyone else is doing well too!
